Bio
Coach Ed Lasquete brings over a decade of proven coaching success to San José City College, following his long tenure leading the pole vault program at Mt. Pleasant High School in San José, CA. Widely regarded as one of California’s top pole vault coaches, Coach Lasquete is dedicated to helping athletes reach their full potential both on and off the field.
His coaching philosophy centers on two key principles:

A lifelong advocate of continuous learning and self-improvement, Coach Lasquete works to pass these values on to his athletes every day.
He holds certifications as a USATF Certified Track & Field Coach and a Level 2 Certified Interscholastic Coach.
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Coach Lasquete is deeply committed to empowering local students and strengthening the community. His coaching accomplishments include developing multiple California state meet qualifiers, the 2015 CCS Champion, Mt. Pleasant High School’s all-time male pole vault record holder, and the Philippines’ junior female pole vault record holder. At San José City College, he coached an alumna to represent the Philippines in international Track & Field competition.
As an athlete, Coach Lasquete was a standout competitor. He was the 1990 California high school state champion in the pole vault, an NCAA placer at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and a 1992 Olympian representing the Philippines at the Summer Games in Barcelona. He proudly attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on a pole vault scholarship.
