Strong Finish for SJCC Jumpers at State Championships
San José City College is proud to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of our Jaguar jumpers at the California Community College State Championships.
Haley Johnson: State Champion and All-American
A huge Jaguar salute to Haley Johnson (Fremont High School, Sunnyvale), who soared to victory in the women's high jump to become State Champion. In a dramatic finish, Johnson cleared 5'3" on her final attempt after two initial misses—clinching the top spot and securing a two-inch lead over a competitive field of five athletes who finished at 5'1".
With her victory, Johnson not only claimed the state title but also earned All-American honors—awarded to the top four finishers in each event across all California community colleges.
Isabela Ashe: All-State Honoree
Isabela Ashe (Lincoln High School, Stockton) also made her mark, earning a sixth place finish in the women's high jump. Her performance secured All-State honors, a distinction given to the top six athletes in each event.
Cameron Chatman: All-State Performer
On the men's side, Cameron Chatman (Independence High School, San José) landed on the podium with a sixth placefinish in the men's long jump—earning him All-State recognition as well.
All three athletes are freshmen, and Head Coach Justin Ta is enthusiastic about the team's future, as these outstanding competitors are expected to return for next season.
Congratulations to our Jaguar jumpers on a strong finish!
