San José City College Softball Stars Shine in All-State Honors
The San José City College Jaguars Softball team capped off a strong season as standout players earned top recognition in the 2025 CCCAA All-State awards, highlighted by an extraordinary achievement for Evangelina Chavarria.
Sophomore standout Evangelina Chavarria was named the Northern California Player of the Year, marking one of the most prestigious individual accolades in the state. Chavarria's dynamic performance throughout the season — both in the circle and at the plate — set her apart, solidifying her as one of the premier athletes in California community college softball. This season, Chavarria posted a 19–7 record with a 1.75 ERA over 156 innings pitched. She recorded 80 strikeouts, held opposing hitters to a .223 batting average, and tallied 11 complete games, showcasing her dominance and endurance.
"We're incredibly proud of Evangelina and what she's accomplished this season," said Head Coach Huntze. "She embodies what Jaguar softball is all about — hard work, leadership, and heart."
In addition to Chavarria's top honor, Aleki Ulu and Jayden Vai were named to the Northern California All-State Team, a testament to their consistent excellence and significant contributions to the Jaguars' success this season. Ulu posted a stellar .336 batting average across 41 games, with 3 home runs, 31 RBIs, and 21 runs scored. Her powerful and consistent bat, paired with sharp discipline at the plate — just 4 strikeouts in 122 at-bats — made her one of the toughest outs in the lineup.
Vai also delivered an outstanding season, finishing with a .331 batting average over 40 games. She tallied 4 home runs, 28 RBIs, 31 runs scored, and 6 stolen bases, combining speed and power to spark the Jaguars' offense. Her impressive .492 slugging percentage and .410 on-base percentage reflect her ability to make an impact in multiple ways.
"Aleki and Jayden have been anchors for us all year," Coach Huntze added. "Their passion, skill, and teamwork are a big reason why we've been so competitive."
The San José City College community celebrates these student-athletes and looks forward to their continued success both on and off the field.
