Bio

The 2024-25 season will be Coach Malloy's second season at San José City College as an assistant coach and his 25th year coaching at the California Community College level. Player development, scouting, and recruiting are just some of the roles Coach Malloy is responsible for.

Prior to joining San José City, Coach Malloy was the head assistant at De Anza College from 2009 to 2022, serving as the interim head coach for the 2022-23 season. Coach Malloy began his community college career at Fullerton College, where, from 2000 to 2006, he served as associate head coach and helped lead the Hornets to five consecutive state tournament appearances. In his final year (2005-06), he helped lead the Hornets to a men's state title with a historic 37-0 record.

After Fullerton, he served as associate men's head coach at Antelope Valley College from 2006 to 2009. In his first year at AVC, the Marauders reached the state championship game, and the next year, they advanced to the Sweet 16. Over his 24 years of coaching at the community college level, Coach Malloy has had the privilege of coaching over 25 Division I signees, as well as many players who have continued their careers at four-year institutions and professionally. He is grateful for the opportunities, experiences, and knowledge his head coaches have provided him.

Coach Malloy grew up in Brea, California, and coached basketball at Brea-Olinda High School, where he achieved an impressive five-year record of 105-10. Chris graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a BS in Kinesiology, earned his teaching credential from Cal Poly Pomona, and received his MS from Azusa Pacific. He currently works full-time as an Adapted Physical Specialist for the County of Santa Clara. Coach Malloy has been married to his wife, Kimberly, for 15 years, and they have two daughters: Sophia, 15, and Rebekah, 13.
