Bio

David Stanton is excited to begin his journey in his 1st year as head coach at San Jose City College. He started his coaching career at San Benito High School, where he was the head coach for the Frosh and JV team from 2018-2020. Then, he started coaching at San Jose State as a volunteer assistant for the past 3 seasons for both beach and indoor while earning his master's in Exercise Physiology. In those three seasons, he was on staff for the best beach season in school history in 2020 and the winningest indoor season in 2022 with a 21-win season and a Mountain West conference championship appearance.  On the club side, Coach Stanton was the head coach for the SJSU women's club volleyball team for the 2021-22 season and was a head coach for Rush Volleyball Club from 2018-2020. He is coaching at Vision Volleyball Club and Mandala Beach Volleyball Club. Aside from volleyball, he has worked with SJSU and CSUMB as a strength and conditioning coach and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist. His goal as a coach is to help develop high-performance athletes by modeling a positive winning culture that values hard work, good character, and competitiveness, so they can grow as both athletes and individuals through the sport.

Coach Stanton playing experience, he has four years of experience as an Outside Hitter/Middle Blocker for SJSU men's club volleyball from 2014-2018 and four years as a varsity Outside Hitter for San Benito High School from 2010-2014.

Outside the gym, Coach Stanton enjoys playing beach volleyball at Carmel Beach and participating in CBVA tournaments. He also loves to barbecue and has a small catering business. He takes pride in being a dog dad to his border collie named Woodford.
