Dumatol's and Levandoski's double-double guides Jags' victory over the Lobos 67-49
The Jags (20-5, 5-1 Coast-South) started the game off strong with an early 6-0 lead against the Lobos (7-18, 2-4) after Zara Dumatol forced a turnover, leading to an open layup. She scored 14 points with ten assists, six steals, and two rebounds.
Xiana Torres scored 13 points in the first half to help the Jags lead 31-21. She totaled 17 points, with six rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Kira Levandoski added 12 points with eleven rebounds, one assist, and one block.
After a slow start in the first half for Madison Diaz with 2 points, she bounced back and scored 12 points in the second. She ended the night with 14 points, two rebounds, two steals, and nine rebounds. Just one rebound short of a double-double to join Dumatol and Levandoski. She also scored the only two 3's for the Jags.
The Jags' defense was strong, holding the Lobos to 34.9 percent on the field and forcing twenty-one turnovers.
Before the game began, head Coach Terri Oberg received a framed jersey with 600 written across it to represent her recent milestone of 600 wins at San José City College.
The Jags will celebrate sophomore night against Gavilan on 2/15. Their final game will be a rematch against No. 1 in conference Hartnell on 2/17, who gave the Jags their only conference loss this season.
