Jaguars Receive Conference, Regional, and State Awards
Coach Huntze-Rooney and Several Jags Honored with Season Awards
The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (3CFCA) has announced it's 2019 award winners. Deborah Huntze-Rooney was named the State Coach of the Year and Madison Gallagher named State Player of the Year. (FULL RELEASE)
In her 28th Season with the Jaguars, Huntze-Rooney guided her Jaguars to the #2 overall seed in the 2019 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Northern California post-season. The Jaguars went 34-4 overall in 2019 regular season play, winning the Coast Conference South Division Championship. San Jose closed out the regular season with wins in it's final 15 games. Huntze-Rooney was also named the Coast Conference South Division Coach of the Year. It's Huntze-Rooney's second 3CFCA State Coach of the Year nod, after being given the award in 1996.
Gallagher had a monster year at the plate in 2019, leading the state in batting average (.576), finishing second in home runs (13), and third in RBIs (56). Gallagher posted a slugging percentage of 1.000 and an on-base percentage of .607. Gallagher struck out just three total times in 125 at bats. Gallagher also contributed in the circle, posting a 16-2 mark as a starter. Gallagher had a 3.23 ERA and struck out 56 batters on the season. Gallagher prepped at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, CA and hails from San Martin, CA.
The Jaguars represented SJCC very well amid the Conference, Regional, State, and National awards lists for 2019.
