Bio

With over 25+ years of coaching experience in the throwing events and a record of producing top results, Coach Ron McKee is poised to produce record-breaking throws athletes for SJCC.

Coach McKee is strongly committed to developing Bay Area champions and Olympians. Before San Jose City College, Coach McKee coached at Bay Area high schools Del Mar High, Los Gatos High, and Santa Teresa High. Coach McKee has coached several top California State Meet competitors and CCS (Central Coast Section) Champions.  Five of his athletes have thrown over 60 feet in the shot put, and six discus throwers have thrown 175 feet or farther. His Junior College stats continue to impress. Coach McKee has had junior college California State placers throughout his 5+ years at SJCC. 

A decorated athlete and Olympian, Coach McKee competed for both SJCC and then CSUN (California State University Northridge), garnering 3 NCAA Division 2 All-American awards. Ron competed at the Olympic Trials in 1988. In both 1990 and 1991, Ron was ranked among the top 10 athletes in the Shot Put by Track and Field News magazine (9th in 1990 and 8th in 1991), and earned a spot on Team USA in 1991.

Coach McKee is a proud graduate of San Jose City College. After San Jose City College, Coach McKee transferred to and graduated from Cal State Northridge.
