Assistant Coach Jimmy Brown is a pillar in our San Jose Bay Area community. These elements are essential to San Jose City College Track & Field’s success. Coach Brown assists Coach Jamal Elmidge in the Horizontal Jumps. Coach Brown’s coaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that a student athlete’s personal and professional potential is maximized when his/her academic, psychological, athletic development is developed in synchrony. He leverages his professional expertise to help Bay Area students from all backgrounds to maximize their personal and professional potential. This in turn, will create a promising, strong, and sustainable future for our entire Bay Area community.

Before San Jose City College, San Jose native Coach Brown worked closely with Head Coach Steve Nelson (20+ years) at Mt. Pleasant High School. Coach Brown’s coaching contributions in the jumps and general athletic (academic, psychological, and more) development have been essential to the Mt. Pleasant High School Track & Field program’s long term success.

Like his fellow coaches on the SJCC Track & Field team, Coach Brown has a decorated history of achieving personal bests in academics and athletics. At Mt. Pleasant High School and later, at CSU Fresno, Jimmy was a top student athlete in Track & Field and competed in the long jump.

Jimmy is a proud California State University Fresno (CSU Fresno) graduate. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Victimology Criminology and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. Jimmy works with the Oak Grove Union Elementary District and heads a private practice as a LMFC (counselor).
