Coach Ed Lasquete comes to San Jose City College after successfully coaching the pole vault at Mt. Pleasant High School in San Jose, CA for a decade. Coach Lasquete is one of the most sought after pole vault coaches in California. Coach Lasquete’s coaching philosophy is grounded in two main goals: 1.) To develop (in his students) the strong work ethic required to successfully work and thrive in our modern economy, and 2.) To leverage the latest research in technical core strength development to maximize his athletes’ potential. Coach Lasquete is a firm believer in life-long learning, improvement, and development. He strives to teach his students these important core values.

Coach Lasquete is a USATF Certified Track & Field coach and a Level 2 Certified Interscholastic coach.

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Coach Lasquete is committed to helping our students build a strong future for themselves and our Bay Area community. His impressive record of achievement includes developing numerous California state meet qualifiers, 2015’s CCS Champion, Mt. Pleasant High School’s all-time school pole vault male record holder, and the Philippines’ Junior Pole Vault female record holder. Since coming to San Jose City College, Coach Lasquete has coached a San Jose City College alumna and pole vaulter to represent the Philippines in international Track & Field competitions.
