Track & Field Finishes Coast Conference Finals
SJCC shine brightly again at the Coast Conference Track and Field Championships held on Wednesday and Saturday (April 24 and 27) at De Anza Community College in Cupertino, CA.
San Jose City College's Track and Field team shine brightly again at the Coast Conference Track and Field Championships held on Wednesday and Saturday (April 24 and 27) at De Anza Community College in Cupertino, CA.
Our women's team was paced by Jaziah Lawson. Jaziah won the high jump at 1.45 meters and placed 7th in the 100 meter High Hurdles at 16.96 seconds. Our women's hammer throwers took 4th, 5th and 7th places. They were led by Angela Ruiz (41.07m), Adriana Villa-Rodriguez, who threw a new personal best of 38.33m, and Alexis Smith (33.13m).
In the middle distance events, Felicity Tomisaka took 4th in the 3000 meter steeple chase with a finish time of 13:22.73. Lawson, Ruiz, Villa-Rodriguez, and Tomisaka all advance to next week's Nor Cal Finals in Modesto, CA.
Our men's team was paced by Allen Ibarra. Allen took 4th in the discus throw at 40.16m and placed 8th in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.00m. Kyler Spindola roared back from a mid-season injury to take 5th place in the 800 meter race with a season's best time of 1:57.23. Joemar Belena placed 7th in the Long jump at 6.73m, and 8th in the 100 meters with a time of 10.96s. Ibarra, Belena and Spindola all advance to the Nor Cal Trials next week in Modesto, CA.
