Lady Jags Deliver an Outstanding Season

The San José City College (SJCC) Lady Jaguars softball team delivered a standout performance during the 2024–25 season, showcasing excellence in offensive and defensive play.

Offensive Highlights

Throughout 41 games, the Lady Jaguars amassed 229 runs, averaging 5.59 runs per game. Their team batting average was impressive .313, with 335 hits, including 21 home runs and 101 extra-base hits. The team's on-base percentage (OBP) was .386, and their slugging percentage (SLG) was .449, culminating in an OPS (on-base plus slugging) of .835. Notably, the Jaguars excelled in clutch situations, hitting .324 with runners in scoring position and .318 with runners on base, resulting in 220 RBIs.

Pitching and Defense

The pitching staff was a cornerstone of the team's success, achieving a remarkable ERA (earned run average) of 1.84 and a WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched) of 1.17. Over 265.2 innings pitched, they allowed only 70 earned runs and recorded seven shutouts. Defensively, the team maintained a fielding percentage of .956, with 53 errors and 772 putouts, indicating solid defensive performance throughout the season.

Base Running

Aggressive and strategic base running further bolstered the Jaguars' offense. The team successfully stole 53 bases out of 55 attempts, achieving a stellar 96.4% success rate and consistently putting pressure on opposing defenses.

Coaching Milestone

Head Coach Debbie Rooney reached a significant career milestone this season, securing her 900th career win. Coach Rooney's leadership and commitment to excellence have been instrumental in the team's sustained success.
